BAYTOWN PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENTS
FOR 2001
- Bayer Corporation -

Cedar Bayou site will expand to increase its production for
polycarbonate by more than 200 million pounds annually. Bayer
Cedar Bayou is a multi-divisional site that produces polyurethane,
plastics/coatings and industrial chemicals. (The Baytown Sun,

- Home Depot -

Cedar Crossing, L. P. announced that it has sold a 40 acre
tract of land to Home Depot for its 755,000 square foot distribution
center with the option to purchase an additional 50 acres. The
center will provide 252 new jobs and will serve as distribution base
for the southwestern United States. (4/25/01)
- CIM Industries -
-
bought 5 acres at Cedar Crossing Business Park. Estimated
investment will be $4 million with 10-12 employees. Company
manufactures coatings and paint products. (Houston Chronicle
6/17/01)
- Chevron
Phillips Chemical Co. LPand Solvay Polymers
Inc. -
-
announced construction of a high density polyethylene plant at
Chevron Phillips Cedar Bayou facility. Will produce 700 million
pounds of HPDE per year. Start up is projected for 4th Quarter
2002. The two companies will each own 50 percent of the
